Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam recognized among the Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises

The efforts of Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam have been recognized through the prestigious Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises 2023 (TOP50 CSA) award, as voted by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine.

Ho Chi Minh City, June 29, 2023 - Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam proudly announces its inclusion in the prestigious TOP50 CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2023, organized by Nhip Cau Dau Tu business magazine. This esteemed program acknowledges businesses that have made remarkable contributions to sustainable development, environmental preservation, and social equity in Vietnam. Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam has received this esteemed recognition in the "Optimizing Sustainable Raw Materials" category, under the Environmental Protection category.

With over two decades of presence in the Vietnamese market, Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam has steadfastly pursued the goal of sustainable development. As a leading provider of products and solutions in the bread, patisserie, and chocolate industries, the company aspires to be at the forefront of promoting and showcasing Vietnam's cocoa beans in the global chocolate production process. Employing a unique business model known as "From Farmer to Chocolate Bar," Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam has established a vertical integration system that directly connects farmers and cocoa beans to Vietnam's confectionery industry.

Over the past three years, from 2020 to 2022, the company has worked with nearly 2,000 farmers and purchasing centers to procure thounsands of tons cocoa beans from various Vietnamese provinces, including Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria Vung Tau. These locally sourced cocoa beans are utilized in the production of their renowned 60DAYS chocolate products, renowned for their delectable fruit flavor, a quality rarely achieved by other cocoa raw materials worldwide. Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam exports these exceptional products to discerning markets such as Belgium, France, Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan.

Beyond fair purchase prices for cocoa beans, Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam technical team also shares farming expertise, cultivational practices, and environmental management skills with farmers. These initiatives aim to enhance productivity, encourage sustainable cultivation methods, and maintain consistent cocoa quality. To further support cocoa farmers and promote the preservation and development of cocoa farms, the company has implemented a chocolate reward program called Chocolate Bonus. Notably, in the past three years, from 2020 to 2022, Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam has awarded nearly 5 billion Vietnamese dong to farmers, supplementing their income alongside cocoa bean sales.

Despite the increasing global demand for chocolate, Vietnam's cocoa output has struggled to meet market needs. The cocoa area in Vietnam has significantly decreased from 25,700 hectares in 2012 to approximately 5,000 hectares in 2019. To counteract this decline, Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam has emerged as a leading figure in the cocoa and chocolate industry, taking proactive measures such as donating 90,000 cocoa seedlings for farmers in regions including Daklak, Daknong, Binh Phuoc, Lam Dong, and Ben Tre during the first half of 2023.

The efforts of Puratos Grand-Place Vietnam have been recognized through the prestigious Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises 2023 (TOP50 CSA) award, as voted by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine.

Gricha Safarian, CEO of Puratos Grand-Place, expressed his delight and honor upon receiving this prestigious award. He stated, "We are delighted and honored to receive this prestigious award. This recognition reinforces our unwavering commitment to sustainable business practices and encourages us to continue our efforts towards building a better world. Vietnam's cocoa trees possess tremendous economic potential and stability, coupled with the favorable climate and soil conditions. We are dedicated to producing products using high-quality cocoa beans grown in Vietnam and contributing to positioning Vietnam on the global cocoa map where it rightfully belongs."
